June 12, 1978...

 What's the significance of this date?

In the third season of "I Love Lucy" there is an episode called "The Million Dollar Idea."  In the opening of the episode there is a scene where Lucy Ricardo is called out for spending too much money.  In the next scene Lucy is seen with her neighbor and best friend Ethel Mertz (Vivian Vance) talking about how her allowance has been used up until June the 12th.  When Ethel comments that that isn't so bad Lucy replies "June the 12th, 1978!"
