"The Golden Girls" - "Second Motherhood" - February 15, 1986

 In this first season episode, which first aired thirty-five years ago today, Blanche Devereaux (the late Rue McClanahan) must consider accepting her boyfriend Richard's (the late Kevin McCarthy) marriage proposal after she learns that upon marrying him she would become step-mother to his young children.  Could it be he wants a mother for them because he has been putting his work first?  

In a B plot Dorothy (the late Beatrice Arthur) and Rose (Betty White) insist on doing plumbing work around the house which includes installing a toilet while Sophia (the late Estelle Getty) insists that they bring in a professional plumber.
