  Housewife Lucy Whittaker is concerned about local (Indiana) civic affairs and places a call to President Jimmy Carter.  Much to her surprise the president agrees to stop by her house for dinner and discuss it with her while he is visiting the area.  Once the word gets out everyone Lucy knows wants an invitation. Fun Fact: This special featured the final time that Lucille Ball (1911-1989) would work with her long time friends and co-stars including Mary Jane Croft (1916-1999) and Mary Wickes (1910-1995).  The most significant fact is that this is the final time Lucille Ball and Vivian Vance (1909-1979) work together.  During this special Vance is already suffering from the cancer that would cause her death two years later.

  Happy 84th Birthday to this broadcasting super legend!

On "Knots Landing" Julie Harris (1925-2013) spent several seasons as Lilimae Clements, the surrogate mother to all.  At the start of the ninth season Harris was let go due to budget cuts and Red Buttons (1919-2006) was brought in to play homeless suitor Al Baker.  Eventually Lilimae and Al get together and they leave town in an RV.  Their final episode "Flight of the Sunbirds" originally aired on November 19, 1987, 33 years ago today.    Speaking of Buttons, s how business super legends Dick Van Dyke and Dame Angela Lansbury returned last year in the Christmas film Buttons.  The two portrayed guardian angels looking out for two orphaned sisters.

 Anyone who remembers "The Odd Couple" must remember that in the opening of the show during its first few seasons the narrator says that it was on November 13th that Felix Unger (the late Tony Randall) was asked to remove himself from his place of residence.  That request came from his wife.  With nowhere else to go he appeared at the home of his childhood friend (later changed to just friend) Oscar Madison (the late Jack Klugman).  Sometime earlier Madison's wife had thrown him out asking that he never return.  Can two divorced men share an apartment without driving each other crazy?

  "Christmas with the Joker" On Christmas Eve the Joker escapes from Arkham Asylum and takes Commissioner Gordon, Summer Gleason and Detective Bullock hostage.  He challenges the Dynamic Duo to save the hostages by midnight!  Can they find the secret hideout and save Christmas Eve for everyone?

  Happy 53rd Birthday!

 At the end of the seventh season of "Dallas" the role of the beloved Miss Ellie Ewing Farlow was vacated by long time portrayer Barbara Bel Geddes.  The following fall, on November 9, 1984, Donna Reed made her debut as the new Miss Ellie.  Sadly things did not work out and Reed only played the role in twenty-three episodes during the 1984-1985 season.  Thirty-six years ago today in the episode "Homecoming" audiences saw Donna Reed as Miss Ellie for the first time.  The 1984-1985 "Dallas" cast photo signed by Priscilla Presley
